In 2001, three German friends bought the town, determined to breathe life back into it. Over the next two decades, they used Lobo as a venue for unique events such as art shows, short films, and music festivals, including the notable “Desert Dust Cinema.”

The German owners decided to sell the property in 2023, citing their inability to continue restoration efforts due to aging.
The listing for the 10-acre town, located 130 miles southeast of El Paso and 15 miles east of the Rio Grande, drew worldwide attention.
