CONYERS — Rockdale County residents will have the opportunity to gain insights into the 2025 budget during a virtual town hall meeting on January 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Chief Financial Officer Michelle Irizarry will lead the presentation, breaking down the county’s revenue and expenditures for the year.
The 2025 budget, approved by the Board of Commissioners (BOC) on December 10, 2024, projects total revenue at $209.86 million.
The majority of these funds will be allocated to the county’s general fund, which provides $123.46 million for government services, transportation, and court operations.
Key Budget Allocations
- Public Safety: Over $66 million from the general fund is designated for public safety, with notable increases for the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Services.
- The Fire Services budget grew by $2.5 million to $17.2 million, covering new expenses such as lawn care ($25,000), health insurance, and communication upgrades.
- The Sheriff’s Office received an additional $3 million, bringing its total to $32.6 million. This increase supports education, training, professional services, and overtime pay for eligible employees.
- Capital Improvements:
- $6.4 million will continue funding construction on the Judicial and Administrative Complex in Olde Town.
- Financing is included for the Courtesy Parkway Project, a collaboration with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
- The Reimagine Rockdale Strategic Plan also received budget allocations to support ongoing county development.
