Local activists are organizing a protest outside Trump Tower in downtown Chicago on Monday, coinciding with President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The demonstration, led by the People’s March for Justice, is part of a broader national movement opposing the incoming administration’s agenda.
Coalition of Over 60 Organizations
The People’s March for Justice brings together more than 60 local organizations, including immigration advocates, abortion rights groups, LGBTQ+ activists, and youth organizations.
Eric Ramos, a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation in Chicago, emphasized the importance of unity in the fight against what they view as harmful policies.
“Solidarity is our greatest power,” ramos said during an interview on “Chicago Tonight: Latino Voices.” “We don’t have the money as a working class to compete with these large moneyed interests. The only way to stand up to such an agenda is to bring all these different struggles together.”
The protest will begin with a rally at Water Tower Park at 11 a.m. before participants march to Trump Tower.
Focus on Social and Economic Issues
The organizers aim to draw attention to issues such as poverty, housing, education, and healthcare.
Many protesters express dissatisfaction with both major political parties, arguing that neither adequately represents the working class.
“It’s very important that we establish an independent working-class politics—one that reflects our interests,” Ramos said.
Engaging the Community Through Art and Dialogue
To build momentum, participating groups have been holding community organizing meetings, inviting individuals to contribute regardless of their organizational affiliations. Many are using creative methods, such as art and film, to spread their message.
In addition, the Party for Socialism and Liberation will host a forum on Friday to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., aligning with the spirit of MLK Day on Monday.

The protest aims to galvanize community action and challenge policies seen as detrimental to marginalized communities.
Organizers hope to inspire individuals to see themselves as agents of change and to reach out to their own communities to amplify their efforts.
