NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Middle Tennessee will experience rain showers tonight, with rainfall totals ranging from 0.25 to 0.50 inches across the region. Fortunately, no severe weather is expected.
The heaviest rainfall will occur overnight tonight, tapering off by mid-morning Saturday. By late Saturday afternoon, some areas will see rain transitioning into light snow, continuing into Sunday morning.
Accumulation will be minimal, with most areas receiving only a dusting to 0.5 inches.
However, higher elevations, such as the Plateau and regions along the Tennessee-Kentucky line, could see up to one inch of snow.
Arctic Chill to Follow the Snow
The bigger concern is the dangerously cold Arctic air arriving over the weekend. Temperatures will begin dropping Saturday night and settle into single digits by Sunday night.
- Monday Morning: Most areas will wake up to temperatures in the single digits.
- Monday and Tuesday Nights: Low temperatures will barely remain in the double digits.
The last time Nashville experienced single-digit temperatures was on January 21, 2024, when the mercury dropped to 4°F.
Residents are urged to prepare for the cold and remain cautious on potentially slick roads this weekend.
